When talking about the 2005 - 2007 Mustang… And I do… Often, and at length. There are essentially two body styling accessories which no Mustang should be without. In fact I might go so far as to say that the new style Mustang is naked without them. I know… I know… All of you Mustang fans are cringing as you read this, but as hot as the new Mustang is it could use just a lil’ bit of help.

The thing is Ford definitely embraced the retro trend with the 2005 - 2007 Mustang when it came to body style. They brought back the classic lines and aggressive feel of the late 60’s Mustang… My question is… Why not complete the look? With that in mind the two body styling accessories which every 2005 - 2007 Mustang must have are:

2005 - 2007 Ford Mustang Painted Window Louvers

2005 - 2007 Ford Mustang Painted Window Louvers for that Retro Look

Afterall the fastback roofline and trapezoidal rear windows of the new Ford Mustang echo 1965-66 Shelby Mustangs… So why no louvers? The Mustang without slotted louvers is naked. One of our best selling Mustang accessories is our Mustang painted slotted louvers for exactly this reason.

Our Mustang painted louvers do not require prepping or painting. They are ready to install right out of the box! Constructed from high impact, ABS plastic which will never rust, and they offer ultra easy installation. No cutting or drilling is required. They attach easily with OE approved 3M Double Face Tape.

And then of course there is the 2005 - 2007 Ford Mustang Painted Hood Scoop.

2005 - 2007 Ford Mustang Painted Hood Scoop

Of course up front, the shark-like headlamps and grille suggest 1967-68 Ford Mustangs. Plus the hood is long and sleek and also comes from Mustang history, so why no hood scoop? The 2005 - 2007 Mustang has to have a hood scoop! It is a simple but stylish addition to your 2005 - 2007 Ford Mustang that absolutely belongs there!

Our 2005 - 2007 Mustang Painted Hood Scoop does not require prepping or painting. It is ready to install right out of the box! Constructed from high impact, ABS plastic which will never rust, This Mustang hood scoop is attached to the hood with durable, high quality 3M Double Stick Tape, for ultra-easy installation. Plus this 2005 - 2007 Mustang hood scoop is compatible with both the base (V6) and the GT (V8) Mustangs!

In my opinion a 2005 - 2007 Mustang without these additions is naked. What are your must have mods for the new style Mustang? Let me know…

I hope this helped… As always, thanks for your continued support of HubcapsPlus and if you have any questions or comments I’m always here!

Filed under Tailgate Locks, Tips & Tutorials

I got a call recently from a friend who had the tailgate stolen off his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. He had stopped at the grocery store on the way home for a few things, he wasn’t in the store for longer than 15 minutes, and when he came out… Poof! His tailgate was long gone. I sympathized with him, because I know that is an awful feeling… But I couldn’t resist chiding him just a bit either, since I had warned him about tailgate theft when he first purchased the truck, and advised him to install one of our tailgate locks to prevent it from happening.

Tailgate theft has been a problem since 70’s when trucks became more popular in urban areas. As tailgates become damaged from use, or accidents, it is common for thieves to seek out a similar gate, remove it, and use it as their own or sell it to unscrupulous shops or yards who then resell it to honest people who just need a new gate. The tailgates make attractive targets because they can be removed in about 30 seconds, sometimes without tools, and can cost up to $500 used and $1,000 new, and rarely have vehicle identification numbers etched in them, making the stolen parts hard to trace or to identify as stolen.

Stealing a tailgate without a tailgate lock can be as simple as:

Vulnerable tailgate without a tailgate lock.
Finding a truck without a tailgate lock.

Remove retention cable.
Opening the tailgate and disengaging the retention cables on both sides.

Lift one side out of channel.
Lift the notched side out of the channel.

Lift tailgate off of vehicle.
Once notched side is free, slide the opposing side out of the channel and lift the tailgate free.

Beat a hasty retreat with a brand new tailgate.
Beat a hasty retreat.

So don’t make the same mistake my friend did. If you own a pick-up truck I urge you to install a tailgate lock. They come in many varieties including keyed tailgate locks, integrated tailgate locks and power tailgate locks.

The bottomline is any device that makes it harder to steal your tailgate would encourage a thief to move on to someone else’s truck. Be smart… Install a tailgate lock today!

I hope this helped… As always, thanks for your continued support of HubcapsPlus and if you have any questions or comments I’m always here!
