For those of you who haven’t seen it yet. G2 has released a short video showcasing just how easy it is to apply G2 Brake Caliper Paint to your brake calipers. The G2 video outlines the steps for applying the paint not only as a brush on, but as a spray on application as well! I have to say the finish of the G2 Brake Caliper Paint is absolutely phenomenal! Especially when it comes to the colors which contain metal fleck like G2 Gold or G2 Silver and the new Limited Edition Mustang Legend Lime Brake Caliper Paint!

If you’re not familiar with the spray on technique it’s definitely worth a watch… Check it out -

Click here to view the embedded video.

The portable aerosol spray can used in the video is actually the same Preval Portable Aerosol Spray Can that we carry. We have actually been recommending the Preval Spray Gun for paint touch ups when you’re doing auto body work, because it lets you use the exact paint that’s on the car. So it eliminates comparing paint swatches to different spray cans.

With Preval, you get perfect color matching every time. With no streaks, either, making it perfect for applying G2 Brake Caliper Paint!

It seems we aren’t the only ones who think it’s a perfect match… G2 thinks it’s a perfect match as well!

As always, thanks for your continued support of HubcapsPlus and if you have any questions or comments I’m always here!

Safety should be your first priority any time you get behind the wheel, but let’s be honest… Even though safety may be your first priority, you can’t control the other guy.

Muth signal mirrors can help prevent lane-changing and merging accidents

Thankfully, Muth Mirror Systems has introduced an innovative accessory for vehicles that helps drivers to ensure the safety of their family. Muth signal mirrors use high intensity lights to change ordinary exterior rearview mirrors into safety features that command attention.

When a turn signal is activated, a flashing chevron appears in the corresponding side mirror to alert drivers in the blind spot. However, the mirrors appear as regular sideview mirrors when the turn signals are not activated.

Many accidents are caused by lane-changing, freeway merging or front-to-rear pileups. Muth signal mirrors are at the eye level of adjacent vehicles and are more noticeable than conventional tail lights. With the increased popularity of trucks, SUVs and mini-vans and the use of those vehicles for towing, the signal from a side mirror may be the only indication drivers a few car lengths back have of the intentions of the vehicle ahead. Tail lights may be hidden by these taller vehicles or by what is being towed.

Muth signal mirrors are available as retrofit package kits.

The LED display used in Muth signal mirrors lights up faster than regular incandescent lamps in tail lights. This accounts for a difference of 17 feet at 65 m.p.h. By alerting drivers in the blind spot of the vehicle equipped with Muth Signal® mirrors, those drivers have additional reaction time to avoid a collision.

Unlike the adjacent drivers who see a highly visible lighted display, the driver of the vehicle equipped with Muth signal mirrors sees a subtle tell-tale display. This reminds the driver the Muth signal mirrors is activated.

Muth signal mirrors are currently included on select new vehicles and are now available as retrofit package kits for Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, Chevrolet and GMC full-size trucks, Ford F-150 and F-250 trucks, Expeditions and Econoline vans as well as many other vehicles.

I received a call from a customer the other day with an 06 Ford Mustang… He had previously purchased the painted slotted Mustang window louvers as well as the painted Mustang hood scoop and the painted Mustang rear spoiler. His problem was this…

He was on the fence as to whether or not he should get the rally stripe down the center of his Mustang… He liked the way it broke up the mono-tone look of the rear end, defined the lines of the rear end and added a custom look, but he was worried it would be too over the top. Personally, I really like the rally stripe… I think it looks aggressive, and I told him as much. He however remained unconvinced… He was worried the wife wouldn’t like it.

Since his main concern was achieving a custom look, without being obnoxious I suggested our Mustang Honeycomb Taillight Panel. It seemed the perfect fit… He thought so too.

The Custom Honeycomb Rear Deck Trim Panel for a 2005-2008 Ford Mustang will fit any GT, V6, Shelby or Roush Mustang between 2005 and 2008. So it is perfect if you are looking for a simple but stylish way to customize your 2005-2008 Ford Mustang.

Plus installation is a breeze! The Custom Honeycomb Taillight Trim Panel attaches easily with 3M adhesive tape just like the factory mouldings. Once installed you’re assured of long lasting beauty since the panel is composed entirely of UV resistant automotive grade exterior plastic to avoid cracking and fading, and (as an added protection) drains are provided in the bottom to avoid moisture being trapped behind the panel.

It really is a great way to give your 2005 – 2008 Mustang a custom look stylishly, and inexpensively.

As always, thanks for your continued support of HubcapsPlus and if you have any questions or comments I’m always here!

Hot on the heels of the current retro-chic trend that has completely taken over the automotive industry Volkswagen is now making the old school blue and white VW logos available on their 16″ Beetle Hubcaps. Check it out below…

Personally… I like the 16″ VW Beetle hubcaps with the blue and white Volkswagen logo. The Beetle is a retro-chic car, so I think the retro-chic blue and white logo adds a little style to the hubcap. You can see a picture of the 16″ Volkswagen Beetle hubcap with the modern black and chrome VW logo for comparison below…

I think the modern black and chrome Volkswagen logo looks better on the Volkswagen Jetta hubcaps and the Volkswagen Passat hubcaps which have the European Sedan styling. the Beetle definitely looks better with the retro look… What do you think? Which Volkswagen hubcaps do you prefer?

Windshield defrosters have been around for almost as long insides of automobiles have been heated. Rear window defrosters have been around for decades. Eventually, someone thought it would be nice to attach heated mirrors to cars.

Eventually, someone thought it would be nice to attach heated mirrors to cars.

Most heated mirrors attach to the electric elements that control a car’s rear defroster. When the rear defroster is turned on, the heating elements in the mirrors should be active. Keeping ice and fog off side view mirrors allows a driver to more easily see vehicles and other dangers behind him when weather conditions are inclement, simply by applying a small amount of heat to the glass surface of the side mirrors. Electrical elements in the mirrors heat the surface of the glass. The heat evaporates moisture on the surface and melts any ice that has built up. Unfortunately heated mirrors occasionally will heat unevenly or worse yet… Not at all.

Replacing the entire mirror head assembly will definitely fix this problem, however that can be quite costly. Why replace the entire mirror, if the mirror is not the problem? It is most likely that the heating element behind the glass surface has gone bad, so why not simply replace that?

Burco Redi Heat Universal Heat Grids are available in three sizes to accomodate any need.

There is definitely a retro styling trend in the automotive industry today, as evidenced by the popularity of the throwback designs of the new Mustang, the new Challenger and the new Camaro, it seems that everything that was old is new again! It would seem that consumers are hearkening back to their glory days, trying to recapture at least a part of their youth.

So it’s no surprise at all that there has been a renewed interest in baby moon hubcaps… You remember baby moon hubcaps don’t you? Those chrome smoothies gleaming in the sun usually coupled with extra wide whitewalls… They were the epitome of cool! Well folks guess what? They are the epitome of cool again.

If you want to give your ride a new look with retro style this is an easy choice… There are however a few things to keep in mind. Baby moon hubcaps don’t attach like regular hubcaps, they are held on via the nubs found on the crown of your wheel. If you are replacing an existing set of baby moon hubcaps, the easiest way to determine the size is to just take baby moon hubcap off of the wheel, flip it over and measure the inside diameter of the cap. If you don’t have existing baby moons, then use the diagrams below.

The rule of thumb for fitment is as follows:

If your measurement is between 8″ & 9″, then the 8″ baby moon hubcaps will be compatible.

If your measurement is between 9″ & 10″, then the 9″ baby moon hubcaps will be compatible.

If your measurement is 10″ & up, then the 10″ baby moon hubcaps will be compatible.

If you have any questions, as always I value your feedback, you can contact me via the “Contact Us” link to the right, or if you prefer to call me directly I am here to answer your questions Monday through Friday 9 AM/CST – 5 PM/CST toll free at 1-888-482-2279!

One of the questions I get asked quite often is…

“How do I remove the broken mirror glass from my sideview mirror?”

It’s a good question, especially if you’ve never done it before, and don’t quite know what to expect. But trust me it’s not that difficult as long as you follow these simple guidelines…

First make sure you have the right tool for the job. You’re going to need something long and flat like a wide flat head screw driver, putty knife or a scraper.

You're going to need something long and flat like a wide flat head screw driver, putty knife or a scraper.

Next, the broken mirror glass is much easier to remove if you loosen the adhesive first. This can be done quite easily by applying a little heat. If you have a propane torch you can use that, however a heat gun or hairdryer will also work nicely.

If you have a propane torch you can use that, however a heat gun or hairdryer will also work nicely.

Make sure to put on the appropriate protetctive eyewear and gloves and start heating the mirror slowly, you’ll notice the adhesive behind the mirror will loosen. Slide the screwdriver, putty knife, or the scraper under the mirror and pull all the broken pieces from the backing plate. Once all of the broken glass is removed from the side view mirror backing plate you’re going to want to clean the backing plate thoroughly with some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol before installing the new replacement sideview mirror glass. You’re now ready to apply the new replacement sideview mirror glass!

And that’s that! Couldn’t be easier right???

If you have any questions, as always I value your feedback, you can contact me via the “Contact Us” link to the right, or if you prefer to call me directly I am here to answer your questions Monday through Friday 9 AM/CST – 5 PM/CST toll free at 1-888-482-2279!

If you have a Dodge Caravan then you know its dirty little secret. The Dodge Caravan hubcaps are prone to coming off at the most inopportune times. In fact the Dodge Caravan throws more hubcaps than any other vehicle I know! I’m not sure if it’s just a flawed concept and completely unintentional or if it’s a sinister plot to get consumers to purchase more hubcaps… Either way it amounts to a serious pain in the neck… And in the pocketbook for Dodge Caravan owners.

Replacement Caravan hubcaps, if purchased from a dealership can run you upwards of $75.00 per cap! That can run into quite a bit of scratch after several lost caps.

But did you know that replica hubcaps are available for almost every make and model vehicle on the road today? Including Dodge Caravan replica hubcaps? Replica hubcaps are designed to resemble factory hubcaps in almost every way with one BIG difference… Replica hubcaps usually run about 75% less then the factory caps from a dealer.

Granted as they are replica hubcaps they will not have the manufacturers logo. Logos are the legal trademark of the individual manufacturer or manufacturers, and as such it would be trademark infringement to include them on a replica cap. But for the cost of one factory hubcap you can generally purchase an entire set of four replica hubcaps!

Look at what is available for Dodge Caravan owners…

A Set of Four Replica 1996 – 2000 15 inch Dodge Caravan and Dodge Mini Van Hubcaps for $49.99 Shipped!

Don’t pay dealership prices to replace those lost Dodge Caravan hubcaps! Buy replicas instead!

Today I want to share with you the fastest, easiest and most economical way to replace your broken driver side mirror glass or broken passenger side mirror glass, and best of all, you can replace it yourself, rather than having the dealership replace the entire mirror head assembly… Im’ talking about Burco Fit Over Replacement Automotive Mirror Glass of course!

Below I have listed the steps along with a simple diagram for replacing a broken side mirror with a one of our Burco Fit Over Replacement Automotive Mirror Glasses

Burco® Fit Over Replacement Automotive Mirror Glass

The mirror glass is encased or bonded to the inner backing plate which is mounted inside the mirror head. The broken mirror is to remain in the backing plate, but loose pieces should be removed.

Dry fit (test fit) Burco Fit Over replacement mirror glass in opening to check proper fit.

Carefully clean broken mirror surface with Burco Window Glo or other urethane-safe glass cleaner.

Apply Burco Redi Stick adhesive patches to the back of the replacement mirror and place over the existing broken mirror. If using a silicone or urethane apply directly to broken mirror surface and clamp assembly until cured.

Clean the installed Burco Fit Over replacement mirror glass with Burco Window Glo or other urethane-safe glass cleaner.

NOTE: For electrochromic mirror fit-over replacements, the self-dimming feature of the original mirror is eliminated, but its heat feature remains functional.

And that’s that! Couldn’t be easier right???
